I see a whole lot of people getting their ccw lately. Makes me wonder if people are generally aware of Ohio's open carry policy or not. I got into a debate about this with my cousin yesterday, so I decided to call the Attorney General's office, the Prosecutor's office, and the Sheriff's Dept to verify the facts. All three of them confirmed that Ohio is indeed an open carry state, meaning that you can openly display your firearms without fear of arrest. Anything carried in an outer-type holster is considered open carry, even if covered by a shirt or coat. Hiding it in a pocket or in your pants is a no-no unless you have your ccw, and the normal laws apply when transporting a weapon in a vehicle. It made my day to have these facts confirmed by the above, so I thought I'd spread it around. Exercise your rights, carry your guns where all can see them. I will be doing just that from now on. And don't take my word for it, call for yourself.
