On Tuesday, the BeInstrumental Foundation, a Toledo-based nonprofit organization, will hold a musical instrument drive and scholarship fund-raiser from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Manhattan's. It will include a wine-tasting and a jazz concert to benefit local aspiring musicians. Jazz guitarist Damen Cook will headline the evening of music, gourmet food, and wine courtesy of Manhattan's and Uptown Vineyard. Tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting the scholarship fund.

It's always the newbies who post shit like this. Tour? Fans screaming your music? Whose head is up whose ass? If you're doing it for the screaming fans and the "tour" you've been watching too much Brittney Spears on TV. People are playing in a cover band, garage band, jam group, duo, trio, jazz, rock, blues, country, etc. because they LOVE it, and because, MUSICALLY, they have something to say, not for the screaming fans. There are great musicians in Toledo- I know because I'm fortunate to play with a bunch of them. Your post cracks me up!! Usually things seek their own level- if you're not finding good Toledo musicians maybe you're on the same level as the people you're slamming? Practice whatever instrument you play- become somewhat proficient; then get your ass out there, find some other good TOLEDO musicians and make some music- and quit whining.

Yeah I agree, there alot of assholes around here and guys with their heads up their ass. Ive been trying to find someone to play the keys for a while. There's always cool people out there and your not gunna find them playing in bars very often. look around the underground scene. theres still gunna be cunts, of course, but theres a shit load of bands and musicians around here, just gotta look for the right ones bro.

Hey, I am a guitarist mainly and posted on here a while back, but was wrapped up with school. Only found one band I liked anyways.

BUT...

I am done with college in 2 weeks and am ready to invest a lot of time and money back into my music again. Moving to LA is a possibility with me.

INFLUENCES: Anything with talent really. One of my biggest influences this past year is PERIPHERY/BULB. If you like them we will work out good. But I like both heavy and soft, stuff with dynamics, soul, feeling, and energy. Also I'm not trying to sound like anyone, or trying NOT to sound like someone. Just trying to do my own thing.

GEAR: Right now just giggable stuff, expect to see me drop over $5,000 on music gear in the next few months.

EXPERIENCE: I've played in front of crowds of a few thousand people, also experience as a singer at a few different venues. I do not claim to shred on guitar but can sweep a little and I make some decent riffs. Also been drumming for a few years now.

I'm looking to start a heavy metal band with serious and committed musicians who are able to practice for at least two hours a day, one to two days a week, who are roughly between the ages of 17 and 24. We are a Christian prison ministry band that exists to reach out to show God�s grace, mercy and love to those in prison, not only imprisoned in an institution but also by sin. We do this by traveling to prisons through Michigan and Ohio and playing and singing contemporary Christian music.

This ministry has been together for over five-years and has enjoyed a successful track record of ministering to inmates through modern praise concerts with a multimedia accompaniment. This is a powerful ministry opportunity that you cannot walk away from unchanged.

Currently we are seeking a Male Singer and possibly a 2nd guitar player, could be one in the same.

Prayerfully consider if God may be leading you to this band. We try and play 5-7 events per year, most of them being in prisons, but we also play other events here and there. We only travel on the weekends and mostly only a one day trip. Every member in the band has full time jobs and families, so this is something we only do once in a while on the side. We are NOT trying to make it big or do recordings, we are just doing what God has called us as a prison ministry. We play music from Tomlin, Mercy Me, Third Day, 10th Avenue North, Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, Etc.

Because of our busy schedules we usually only practice 3-4 times before an event. There is not a huge time commitment with this band, except right before events which can be pretty busy. It is more or less busy for a month or two, not busy for a month or two, and then the same thing over again. We are fully equipped with practice facilities.

My friend and I are forming a band. We are both 20 and very good guitar players. We do not have egos. We do not feel like this is our band. We are VERY dedicated and will never miss practices. We are looking for other members who are like us and share our dream of playing music. Our ultimate goal is to make it big, but it's NOT about the money. It's about playing in front of thousands of people and getting a huge rush for it. We are looking to form a band with strong influences on Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Seether. However, you must understand that while we are making radio friendly songs, we write whatever sounds good, not just radio edits. We have some heavy songs that run along the lines of Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, and Iron Maiden influences. You must be OK with that, that's all we ask. We are looking for people that are really open minded and aren't just looking to make radio friendly music to get famous. We truly feel like writing what comes to mind and taking it from there, but trust me, it does sound good and I am saying that without ego or bias.

We're a small, college-level group of taiko players looking to gig. What is taiko?

Taiko is fairly new- only about 50 years old- but based on centuries-old Japanese musical traditions. We play some traditional pieces, some more modern compositions and a few compositions from our own students. We play the drums with confidence, power and focus. Because we only play drums, flute, tetzuzutzu, and a few other instruments, we don't need any equipment- just some space and a few listeners. If the audience can't hear us, then we're not playing right.

Hi,

We're a rock band seeking a new drummer and new bassist. We have a place to play. We are seriously dedicated (if this isn't your life goal don't reply). We have no egos. We have a lot of material too. Our drummer wants to play guitar now that the rhythm and bassist have went their own ways. So, we are searching for really good musicians who understand timing and what key they are in. Our style is a lot like three days grace, breaking benjamin, seether, etc. On the heavier end, it is like Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, Silverstein, etc. It's not a lot of screaming, so don't be deterred if you don't like the heavier stuff. We write what we feel like, so there is no set style.

We'd prefer if you were between 17-23 (exceptions are always made of course) and had no ego or serious drug/alcohol issues. We really want dedicated members that can take this to the next level. There is also a kit set up so for "auditions"(I hate calling them that), the drummer could use it or use it full time if he didn't want to lug his kit around. We have no basses or bass amps (sorry!)
